Community-based support for adults 21+
Give your loved one the gift of connection & community
No disability can stop them from pursuing their passions and independence.
All humans are social beings and crave personal interaction. Your loved one should have the opportunity to participate in their community, joys, and passions. They simply need the assistance and encouragement that a Direct Support Professional (DSP) can provide.
What can a Direct Support Professional do?
A DSP can help with..
DSPs are responsible for implementing a support plan that caters to your loved one’s needs and goals, which can include nurturing social and communication skills, strengthening independence, and forming and maintaining friendships.
A DSP will help your loved one participate in activities that enrich their lives and develop important life skills. Depending on the client’s needs and wants, the DSP can accompany them to events and celebrations, the gym, on public transportation, grocery shopping, and more.
But that’s not all.
A DSP also offers less tangible—but no less powerful—gifts of acceptance, confidence, and friendship, and independence. With a DSP by your loved one’s side, they will learn to break out of their comfort zones and pursue meaningful relationships.
Whether we match you with a DSP who is the best fit for your loved one, or you get a trusted family member or caregiver—or even yourself—approved as a DSP, we’re here to make the process as smooth as possible.
The choice is yours
We understand that the caregiver-client relationship is fundamentally rooted in deep trust. That’s why we give you the choice between two options when it comes to finding a Direct Support Professional for your loved one:
We find you a match
Get a fully trained and carefully vetted DSP that best fits your loved one’s needs. Tell us your needs, preferences and wishes, and we will find a DSP that will seamlessly fit into your loved one’s life.
You become or recruit a DSP
Choose yourself or another familiar face—such as a trusted friend or family member—as the DSP. We’ll provide training, get you/them approved and set up as a TeamCare employee.
“I’m so happy my son has a friend”
“TeamCare picked the perfect DSP for our son, Brendon. Matt and Brendon are a couple of years apart and have the same personalities. And Matt has so much patience, nothing frazzles him. I’m so happy that Brendon has a friend, someone his age that he has things in common with. They talk about animals, space, nature … They spend most of their time outdoors.”
“Becoming my son’s DSP has allowed me to teach him life’s basics”
“Any type of financial assistance helps when you have a child with special needs. Becoming my son’s DSP has allowed me the time to teach my son life’s basics—like doing laundry, food shopping, how to talk to people appropriately, how to stay safe… It’s a treat being with my son. And I don’t think there’s anyone better than a mom!”
A team you can count on
If you ever have questions, need a change of schedule or an issue arises with your DSP, we will problem solve until everything is smoothly sorted.
